How to Create a Travel Brochure That Sells Any Destination

By Melanie Doncas | Designer Tutorials

If you want travelers to choose your destination or services over the competition, a well-designed brochure can make all the difference. Whether you’re promoting a tropical escape, curated tour package, or local tourist attraction, a travel brochure gives potential customers something tangible to spark their imagination and appeal to their wanderlust.

In the past, small businesses had to hire a graphic designer or learn complicated software to create their own marketing brochure. But thanks to BeFunky’s Brochure Maker, creating an on-brand and eye-catching brochure for your travel services is easier than ever! Simply choose from one of our many professionally designed brochure templates, then customize it in a few clicks.

So, if you’re wondering “How do I create a travel brochure?”, you’ve come to the right place. We’ll walk you through everything you need to know below.

What Are Travel Brochures and Why Do You Need One?

Travel brochures are marketing materials designed to showcase a destination, travel package, or experience in a way that informs and inspires. They typically take the form of folded pamphlets, but can also be a document (like a PDF) that’s shared digitally.

The main role of a travel brochure is to feature captivating imagery, essential trip details, and clear calls-to-action – all laid out in a design that’s visually appealing and easy to scan. Ultimately, you want potential customers to quickly understand what you offer and why they should book with you.

How to Create a Travel Brochure Using BeFunky

To begin, head to the Brochure Maker and choose a travel-themed template. These layouts are already designed with tourism in mind, so all you have to do is swap in your own content.

You’ll also notice that each brochure template includes a matching front and back design. These are made to accommodate the typical double-sided, tri-fold layout used for printed brochures.

For this tutorial, we’ll be customizing the front of our travel brochure design, but the process remains the same for each.

Use This Template for a travel brochure

Step 1: Upload Your Photos

Firstly, you’ll want to swap out your brochure’s existing imagery for ones that represent your own services or brand. To do this, navigate to the Image Manager in the main menu on the left and upload photos from your own files or using our free Stock Image Library. Then, simply drag and drop images directly into the template's placeholders.

Want to make any edits or adjustments to your new images? Just click on the image you wish to edit, then from the Image Properties panel will appear offering additional customization options. You can even click Edit Image to open your image in our Photo Editor. From here, you can apply everything from subtle edits to artsy effects and photo filters.

Step 2: Customize the Text

Next, you’ll want to edit the existing text, fonts, and font colors in your template to better reflect your own branding and marketing message. Simply double-click any text box and type in your new text. When you click on a text box, the Text Properties panel also appears. From here, you can adjust everything from font and font size to text color, alignment, spacing, and more.

Step 3: Customize the Layout

If you wish to change the background color of your brochure template, navigate to Customize in the main menu. There are several color swatches to select, or you can click on the first color swatch to open the Color Picker. From here, you can select any color you desire, or input a specific HEX code if you had a particular shade in mind.

Want to change the color of an existing graphic or shape on your travel brochure instead? Just click on the graphic or shape, then select a new color from the Graphic Properties panel.

You can also insert additional graphics by navigating to Graphics in the main menu, followed by Search Graphics. This gives you access to our entire Graphic Library, from which you can find a graphic to suit any theme you had in mind. Just use the search bar to find what you need!

Then, drag and drop your new graphics from the Your Graphics section onto your brochure template.

Step 4: Save Your Travel Brochure Design

Now, all that’s left to do is to save your custom brochure design. Click Save at the top of the screen, then choose your desired save location and format.

If you’re printing your brochure, we recommend selecting PDF > Print. If you’ll be keeping it digital, you can save it in any file format.

Once you’ve designed one side of your brochure, it’s time to repeat the above steps for the opposite side.
