How Crescent Moon Kitchen Uses BeFunky to Serve Consistent, Creative Food Content
For Kelly, food has always been more than something to eat – it’s a source of comfort, creativity, and connection. When she started sharing that passion online, she turned to BeFunky to make her recipes stand out. BeFunky helps her keep her branding consistent, speed up her social media content creation, and even design a downloadable ebook – giving Crescent Moon Kitchen the polished look of a professional brand while still reflecting her personal style.
Using [BeFunky] has helped me to create a uniform sense of style across all of my images and platforms. It also expedites my workflow when it comes to creating the graphics that I use on every recipe post and content for things like Pinterest.
That efficiency allows Kelly to spend less time on graphics and more time on what she loves most: developing recipes and connecting with her audience. From step-by-step blog graphics to scroll-stopping social posts, BeFunky makes it easy to showcase each dish with the same attention to detail she brings to the kitchen.
From Recipe Dreams to Digital Reality
Kelly’s culinary journey started at home, inspired by childhood afternoons devouring Food Network shows and recipe books. After major surgeries for Crohn’s Disease in her early 20s, she leaned into that passion – enrolling in culinary school and working in notable kitchens such as Michelin-starred Agern in New York. She later transitioned to catering and events but always felt a pull toward storytelling through food.
The pandemic gave her that nudge. She turned to freelance work on Upwork – writing recipes, editing, and offering consultations. “I hopped on Upwork and was able to pick up some small gigs . . . before garnering enough experience to begin writing full blog posts and tackling backend work for other bloggers.” That experience laid the foundation, but Kelly knew she needed something more personal.
And so, Crescent Moon Kitchen took shape. “Once again though, the little voice was telling me it was time to shift, that I was ready to create something truly mine. So last year, I finally put Crescent Moon Kitchen out into the universe.”
How BeFunky Brings Kelly’s Kitchen Vision to Life
When a fellow freelancer recommended BeFunky for making step-by-step recipe collages, Kelly first tried the free version. She quickly realized the platform could do much more. After upgrading, BeFunky became central to her workflow, from creating recipe imagery to designing optimized Pinterest Pins.
One of Kelly’s favorite projects is her downloadable ebook Hitchhiker’s Guide to Herbs and Spices. She explained, “I started off with one of the templates and from there built out my text and added graphics. I love the way it turned out! Readers will get it free when they subscribe to my email list.”
The Photo Editor has also become indispensable in Kelly’s process, especially when it comes to cleaning up food photography. She often relies on the Object Eraser to remove small distractions that take away from the final image. “This tool has been a blessing and it alone makes BeFunky worthwhile it to me . . . I’ll use the Object Eraser tool to clean up distracting smudges on the edges of plates that I don’t see until I’m sorting images later . . . I also recently used it to erase a chip from a bowl and it worked perfectly!”
Across app sections, Kelly turns to the Text Editor to label ingredients in her recipe shots. “I always use BeFunky for adding text overlay for my ingredients shots. Again, I love how easy it is to swap the image out and change the labels from one recipe to the next so I don’t have to start from scratch every time.”
And when it comes to elevating her iPhone food photography, the Blur tool gives her the professional touch she’s looking for. “I use [it] often to help give that depth of field effect I’m looking for in certain shots, like with the shrimp burrito bowls. I’m shooting on iPhone over here . . . and while it does pretty darn good for being a phone, I still need to give a little extra oomph to some shots to get the look I’m after."
Cooking Up Connection
Since launching Crescent Moon Kitchen, Kelly has celebrated milestones both big and small – from publishing her first recipe in February of 2025 to establishing a steady rhythm of three to five posts each month. And just a few months in, she was already receiving recognition from peers who admired her work. Even something as simple as seeing a Pin saved on Pinterest became a source of joy.
For Kelly, these milestones represent more than growth metrics; they embody her belief that food is about connection – to our senses, our memories, and one another.
It’s the way the smell of chai spice always takes me right to my favorite holiday season or how the rhythmic sound of chopping summer zucchini grounds me firmly in the here and now.
With BeFunky, she has been able to share that vision in a way that feels professional, consistent, and true to her brand. Ready to share yours? Try BeFunky today to bring your story to life.
